BIRMINGHAM : Sparkling tons from Virat Kohli (144) and birthday boy Dinesh Karthik (106) saw India successfully chasing Sri Lanka’s score of 333 in the warm-up match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 at Brimingham on Saturday.India were struggling at 3-62 in the 13th over and then 4-110 in the 21st over before Kohli and Karthik performed the rescue.
Virat Kohli made his ton out of 11 fours and 3 Sixes while birthday boy karthik smashed 12 fours and 2 sixes.
Before the innings Indian bowlers were not at all impressive.Srilankan openers Dilshan and Kushal Perera went for a no wicket loss till 35th over.Our fielders went for a few catch drops in slips.However,Lankans managed to score 333/3 in 50 overs at the end.
Team India succesfully and comprehensively chased it with 5 wickets remaining and entered into the Champions trophy as true champions!
India will play one more warm up match before the main tourney vs Australia on 4th June.
